Members of the New York Yankees received the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. One of those players is infielder Gio Urshela.
Unfortunately for the Bronx Bombers, Urshela is experiencing side effects from the vaccine and has been placed on the COVID injured list, the team announced ahead of Friday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Prior to today’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:

• Placed INF Gio Urshela on the COVID injured list due to side effects from vaccination.
• Recalled INF Mike Ford (#36) from the Alternate Site.
Urshela has had a decent season at the plate thus far, slashing .261/.292/.304 with one RBI on six hits in six games.
Under an agreement between Major League Baseball and the Players Association, certain health and safety protocols can be relaxed for teams that have at least 85% of their Tier 1 personnel fully vaccinated. This includes not having to wear masks in the dugout or bullpen.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said earlier this week that his players will be 85% vaccinated soon.
